Jackson Heights Joins the GSD Portfolio

Great States Development has acquired Jackson Heights Apartments and Townhomes in Harrisburg, South Dakota, a fast-growing suburb of Sioux Falls.
The Jackson Heights community features a mix of 56 apartments and townhomes. Each home features in-unit laundry, central air, and a patio or deck. Some 1, 2, and 3-bedroom layouts within the community also include an attached private garage.
“Jackson Heights fits very well with our acquisition and development strategy, especially in markets like Sioux Falls,” noted Scott Houle, President of Great States Development. “It is a great addition to our portfolio given its close proximity to Huntington Village.”
Sioux Falls Focus
This acquisition marks Great States Development’s second in the Sioux Falls market. Huntington Village was acquired in 2025 and is located just minutes away from Jackson Heights.
The location of Jackson Heights Apartments and Townhomes is particularly advantageous. Located in Harrisburg, South Dakota’s fastest growing city, has seen a 60% increase in population since 2020. The demand for market-rate housing stock continues to increase as such with immediate vacancies falling below 3.6%.
“Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities have many of the growth fundamentals our team looks for. The combination of continued population growth and a strong and diversified local economy make this region one we look to for further growth opportunities,” explained Houle.
The acquisition closed June 1, 2026. The community will be professionally managed by Collective.
